Septic System Design & Inspections
All new septic systems must comply with Minnesota Rules 7080 outlining design standards for Subsurface Sewage Treatment System (SSTS), which not only dispose of sewage, but to also treat the sewage. Typically, SSTSs are installed for new home construction or to replace older failing systems, but depending in which county you reside, or if you are located within a Shoreland Zone, your existing system may or may not need to be updated upon property transfer or to obtain a building permit. Standard types of SSTSs include at-grades, drainfields, and mound systems. The type of system required for an individual site is contingent upon the geologic and hydro-geologic conditions, most notably, the depth to the high water table.
ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIFIC COMMENTS
Whatever type of SSTS an individual site requires, ES has two simple philosophies that always apply. Our systems are 1) designed to be oversized to increase system longevity, and 2) our systems are designed to be hidden from view as much as possible. These ES design philosophies are intended to make our systems, out of sight and out of mind, which is how all SSTSs should be.
